🗝️ The whole series consistently keeps you guessing and wanting to read even more。 ⁣🗝️ There’s a lot of different romances going on。 ⁣🗝️ The cliffhangers at the end of each book but particularly the last book leave you completely awestruck。 ⁣🗝️ Hawthorne mansion is humongous, has all sorts of different rooms but I also really like the secret passageways the characters can use as well。 ⁣🗝️ The overall storyline and how connected all three of the books are has been done incredibly well。 ⁣

„Přečti si to a pak mi řekni, že tohle není hra, která se dá vyhrát。 Řekni mi, že to není hádanka。“ Jameson sáhl po svícnu, a zatímco se průchod krbem znovu otevíral, vyslal ještě jednu poslední, dobře mířenou střelu。 „Tobě nechal majetek, Avery。 A nám nechal jenom tebe。“

I read all three books back to back and can no longer remember specific details about each book。 Overall it was okay。 Easy to read, and with an interesting enough premise to keep you turning the pages to find out the ending。 Beyond that though I wasn't really invested in this story。The whole premise just seemed needlessly convoluted and a way to show off how smart the characters were。 Here's a puzzle and then there's a puzzle and this puzzle leads to this puzzle, and here's another puzzle, and l I read all three books back to back and can no longer remember specific details about each book。 Overall it was okay。 Easy to read, and with an interesting enough premise to keep you turning the pages to find out the ending。 Beyond that though I wasn't really invested in this story。The whole premise just seemed needlessly convoluted and a way to show off how smart the characters were。 Here's a puzzle and then there's a puzzle and this puzzle leads to this puzzle, and here's another puzzle, and look we've hit our word limit so here's the last puzzle and boom! Book done! Rinse and repeat for two more books。 The puzzles weren't even interesting in the sense that I wanted to figure them out myself。 I just wanted to figure out what the big mystery was at the end (and it was not always satisfying)。 The books seemed to be more interested in pushing the characters' romantic lives on us instead, which also was not satisfying。 Each character seemed to be very flat with little development。 Avery is smart。 Jameson is charming and relentless。 Grayson is broken and haunted。 Nash is also charming。 Xander is fun and likes Rube Goldberg machines。 Don't even get me started with the other side characters。 I also did not appreciate the "love triangle。" To be fair, I never appreciate love triangles but I especially disliked this one。 It was pretty clear from the end of book one that Avery and Grayson were not going to happen but the author insisted on making us feel like it was a possibility。 But?? Why????? To get more people to buy the book?? Hated it。 Also the ending was weird。 It felt like it negated what I thought was the whole point of the series, something about how Tobias Hawthorne wasn't as great as he was made out to be。 And if Avery just follows in his footsteps with that, isn't she becoming just like him? Idk, but these books were definitely not my thing。 Needed a better overall premise and a better editor to shape them。 。。。more

This young adult book series (intended for grades 9-12) follows down-and-out teen Avery Grambs, an unsuspecting recipient of billionaire Tobias Hawthorne’s estate。 Throughout the three books, Avery must figure out why she was named the sole beneficiary in a stranger’s will, negotiate and come to terms with the living members of the Hawthorne family who are skeptical of her credibility, and fulfill the terms of her inheritance - to live for one full year at the Hawthorne estate under threats from This young adult book series (intended for grades 9-12) follows down-and-out teen Avery Grambs, an unsuspecting recipient of billionaire Tobias Hawthorne’s estate。 Throughout the three books, Avery must figure out why she was named the sole beneficiary in a stranger’s will, negotiate and come to terms with the living members of the Hawthorne family who are skeptical of her credibility, and fulfill the terms of her inheritance - to live for one full year at the Hawthorne estate under threats from inside and outside the family。 Each book is driven by a series of puzzles and clues left by posthumous patriarch Tobias Hawthorne that lead Avery and the four young-adult Hawthorne grandsons to discover why he decided to leave his vast fortune to a stranger。 Throughout the series the reader not only learns the motivations behind Hawthorne’s final bequeathal, but also family secrets, unethical business dealings, and the history of what allowed him to amass a fortune in the first place。 In addition to the captivating plot, there are clever puzzles, anagrams, and clues throughout so the reader can solve the mysteries along with characters。 There are also relevant themes that weave throughout each of the books。 Family dynamics are on display, as various Hawthorne members come to grips with why they were disinherited and what it means to be a true family, bloodlines or not。 Ideas about privilege also abound - Avery comes from an impoverished background and it catapulted into enormous wealth, asking the reader to consider who is “deserving” of fortune and why wealth is so inequitably divided in our country。 There are also theme of adolescent romance and love as Avery finds herself romantically involved with more than one Hawthorne grandson。 Moreover, there is a significant theme of self-discovery as Avery, and the Hawthorne family unravel the mystery as to why she was named as sole beneficiary to a billionaire’s fortune and uncover a web of family tree secrets and revelations。 Overall this series is a riveting, quick read, with twists and turns that keep the reader engaged and rooting for the protagonists throughout all three books。 。。。more

This series was so fucking good, I could beraly put down the books。 I'd probably say that the first or second was my favourtie。 The Final Gabit was my least favourite but it was still SUCH and amazing book。 But I need justice for Grayson。。 He's the only Hawthorne who doesn't have a happy ending with a future partner。 Yet he's one of the people who deserves it the most- AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE COVERS- They're so fucking pretty。 Istg literally so fucking gorgeous。 If they we're people This series was so fucking good, I could beraly put down the books。 I'd probably say that the first or second was my favourtie。 The Final Gabit was my least favourite but it was still SUCH and amazing book。 But I need justice for Grayson。。 He's the only Hawthorne who doesn't have a happy ending with a future partner。 Yet he's one of the people who deserves it the most- AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE COVERS- They're so fucking pretty。 Istg literally so fucking gorgeous。 If they we're people I'd be down on one knee。 Or two- whichever would be prefered。 。。。more
